The objectives of the Genus Modeling Process are:

  • To ensure high quality application models. The inherent high speed of modeling makes it tempting to move too fast forward, affecting quality negatively. A well-defined process is needed to balance quality and speed.
  • To be accessible. The process must be clearly documented and easily available. The documentation must be kept short and to the point.
  • To be reasonable and flexible. The process must be aligned with the practical needs of the projects and application modelers. The process must be useful.
  • To support the Lean principles, i.e. Eliminate waste, Amplify learning, Decide as late as possible, Deliver as fast as possible, Empower the team, Build integrity in and See the whole. Read this excellent Wikipedia article for more information.
