Genus is not only confined to business applications with graphical user interfaces. Since setting up web services is as easy as making tables, forms and rules, some customers have based their web service hubs on Genus.
As an example, a web service hub application within the Banking and Finance industry has this key functionality:
  • Interface towards SWIFT’s prime messaging interface Alliance Access for handling ISO 20022 messages. The interface is currently supporting Securities Trade, Payments Initiation, Securities Management and Reference Data messages.
  • Interface towards customer specific commerce solution for individuals, handling delivery and synchronization of client information, inventory lists, statement of holdings and with support for fund trading.
Note that web service hubs sometimes are named middleware applications.
