PostgreSQL passed the Alpha test

Product 02/10/2012 by Johnny Troset Andersen

We have investigated the possibility for supporting PostgreSQL as a data provider in Genus® Logix. A test solution based on PostgreSQL successfully passed the Alpha test yesterday.

PostgreSQL is (like MySQL) an open source relational database management system.

According to Wikipedia, the vast majority of Linux distributions have PostgreSQL available in supplied packages. Mac OS X, starting with Lion, has PostgreSQL server as its standard default database in the server edition.

PostgreSQL is used in many products, including Reddit, Instagram and Geni.com. The International Space Station uses PostgreSQL for collecting telemetry data in orbit and replicating it to the ground.

Complete support for PostgreSQL will be developed and introduced based on customer demand, including support for add-ons like PostGIS (support for geographic objects).
